Sip like a mermaid with this nutrition-packed, creamy, delicious Seaweed Mixed Berry Smoothie, which features the sustainable health power of edible seaweed.
- 2 tablespoons (15 grams) dried seaweed (i.e., dulse, kelp, nori)
- 8 ounces fresh or frozen mixed berries (i.e., blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries)
- 1 cup coarsely chopped kale
- 1 medium (about 3 ounces) carrot, unpeeled, chopped into chunks
- ¼ cup ground flax seed
- 1 ½ cup plant-based milk, unsweetened, unflavored (i.e., soy, oat, almond)
- Place seaweed, berries, kale, carrot, flax seeds, and plant-based milk in the container of a blender.
- Process until very smooth (2-3 minutes).
- Pour into two large glasses (about 1 ½ cups each).
- Enjoy immediately, or refrigerate in covered containers until serving time.
Notes
Find seaweed in most well stocked supermarkets, online, or in Asian stores.
May substitute kale for other leafy green, such as spinach, chard, or beet greens.
