SAN ANTONIO—As they took turns trying to jump up and tap it out, the San Antonio Spurs confirmed Friday that Victor Wembanyama’s head had gotten lodged between the rim and backboard again. “It’s really wedged in there good—hey, can I borrow that?” Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said to a nearby custodian, before jabbing at the smiling head of his 7-foot-4-inch center with the blunt end of a broom. “Shoot, I think that made it worse. Here, try to knock it out with these balls. It’s really not budging. We’re going to have to wait for operations to get down here with a ladder and something sharp to pop it with.” At press time, the team had reportedly managed to dislodge both Wembanyama and an old Tim Duncan that had been stuck on the rafters for years.
