Buy Stock: Five Texas Wide Receivers

Over the past month, across several events in Texas, there have been a number of elite wide receivers who have stood out. But there have also been quite a few lesser known prospects who have caught my eye.

Here are five wide receivers in Texas I am buying stock on.

Jaquise Martin is a top three playmaker I have seen in the past month, the other two being top-50 prospects . In the 7v7 scene, he is a walking touchdown. He is an exceptional route runner and has elite ball skills. He has previously been listed as an All-Purpose Back, but at 6-foot, 190 pounds, he certainly has the size to live out wide at the next level. It didn’t matter the competition that lined up across from him, he dominated. Martin’s hands are some of the best I have seen this cycle and I fully expect him to impress during camp season.

Carterrious Brown is a prospect who already holds some significant power four offers, but I think he is being downplayed a bit. He has stood out in recent weeks for his ability to get on top of a defense as well as get vertical to attack the ball at the catch point. He has had several highlight worthy plays where he simply uses his athleticism to win. He has a wiry frame and will need to add some mass over time, but there is potential for Brown to be a major weapon. He produced as a junior for Seguin with nearly 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns on just 37 catches.

Occasionally when you have a 6-foot-6 wide receiver, the athleticism and fluidity can suffer a bit. But this hasn’t been the case for the most part with Romel Stevens. I have been really impressed with his route running and agility at his size. It also helps when a quarterback can throw fade balls with an essential certainty Stevens will just outreach defenders. At 210 pounds, he does not have the mass to play tight end, but if he ever does put on the weight, his athleticism would give him the potential to be a great receiving threat at the position. Stevens has shown he can run a variety of routes in the route tree st all three levels: short, intermediate, and down the field.

As a 2026 prospect, there are some similarities in the eval on Juwaan Woodbury as there was Carterrious Brown. Just a bit shorter at 6-foot-1, but has a wiry frame at 165-pounds. He showed the ability to get down the field and win battles on contested catches. Strong hands and catches away from the body. Long speed is present and can separate after the catch. 875 yards and 10 touchdowns on just 30 receptions as a sophomore. Should impress in camp season.

Highland Park always has a playmaker or two that will come up in the big moments and Case Messer appears he’s well on his way to doing so. The 2026 prospect catches absolutely everything put into the air. His hands are incredibly strong and he consistently puts himself in good positions to catch the ball. He has great size at 6-foot-3, 170-pounds and will continue to develop into his body, which will aid in his agility and movement skills. He is a quality route runner and finds soft spots in defenses and will also win contested catches.
